Gen AI Custom Advice Best Practices: Avoid Performance Issues
When providing custom advice to Gen, it's important to understand how the advice system works and follow best practices to avoid performance issues.
How Gen's Advice System Works
Any advice you type in the "Advice to AI" section competes with the underlying advice from the script type you select. This means your custom advice may conflict with Gen's built-in scripts, potentially causing confusion or delays.
Best Practices for Custom Advice
Keep It Simple: We recommend using prompts without much modification since we know how well those perform. The underlying scripts are designed for consistency and optimal results.
Be Clear and Concise: If you do want to input custom advice:
Be clear in your instructions
Be concise - limit advice to no more than 2000 words
Test your advice thoroughly before running large campaigns
Common Issues with Custom Advice
Why Gen Might Ignore Your Advice: Custom advice competes with the underlying script, which can cause Gen to prioritize the built-in instructions over your custom guidance.
Why Gen Gets Stuck: Gen might delay if you have too much custom advice competing with her underlying script. This is especially problematic when advice exceeds the recommended 2000-word limit.
Performance Impact: Gen is sometimes slower when she's processing a lot of advice, which can affect call quality and response times.
Getting Additional Help
For more specific guidance on crafting effective advice, click the 'Help' tab on the right side of your screen (it's a rectangle about halfway up the right edge of your monitor) when you edit a campaign.
Beta Option
If you want more control over Gen's behavior and want to build your own agent, you can schedule time to connect about joining the beta users of the new agent manager.
